Take your afternoon snack to the next level with these Almond Joy Energy Bites!

I’m all for having an afternoon snack if my energy seems to slump a little in the afternoon.  These almond joy energy bites are the perfect snack for on the go.  I like to make mine on Sunday and store them in the fridge for the week.  This recipe contains oats, almond butter, coconut, and cocoa powder inspired by one of my favorite childhood candies, almond joys.

Easy Afternoon Snack Ideas

If you find yourself really hungry between a meal, do not feel like you need to wait.  Listen to your body and give it what it needs.  For a filling snack, grab something with carbohydrates and protein such as:

Cheese and crackers

Banana (or another fruit) and nut butter

Plain greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and some nuts or seeds

Apple & almonds

Celery, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and hummus

Fruit and cheese

Energy bites

Description

These almond joy energy bites make the perfect snack for afternoon slumps. They are an easy on the go snack that can be made ahead of time for the week.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup almonds chopped
  • 3 tbsp chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl add all of the ingredients. Stir until the ingredients are well combined.
  2. Scoop out the mixture and roll into balls with your hands.
  3. Place energy bites in a container or baggies and store for the next 3-4 days. Enjoy!
